POEMS

Blessed be the child of God

As you travel along God's testing road
His strength to bear whatere the load.
Those who enter the gates will be few
A child of God now proved so true.

Sunshine and rain the flowers of His grace
Humble and sinless the cross to face
Each day the opportunity to serve anew
May His ever loving arms enfold you.

Harold & Crystal Bruggeman from the 60's or 70's

 Friends....

When good friends walk beside us on the trails that we must keep,
our burdens seem less heavy and the hills are not so steep.

The weary miles pass swiftly, taken in a joyous stride and all the
world seems brighter, when friends walk by our side.

THE ABOVE LINES ARE DEDICATED TO HUMANS
AS WELL AS OUR FAMILY PETS.

Around the Corner
By Henson Towne

Around the corner I have a friend, In this great city that has no end,
Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, And before I know it, A year is gone.
And I never see my old friends face, For life is a swift and terrible race,
He knows I like him just as well, As in the days when I rang his bell.
And he rang mine, we were younger then, And now we are busy, tired men.
Tired of playing a foolish game, Tired of trying to make a name.
Tomorrow "I say, I will call on Jim Just to show that I"m thinking of him".
But tomorrow comes and tomorrow goes, And the distance between us grows and grows.
Around the corner!-yet miles away, Here's a telegram sir, Jim died today.
And that's what we get and deserve in the end. Around the corner, a vanished friend.
Remember to always say what you mean.  If you love someone, tell them.
Don't be afraid to express yourself. Reach out and tell someone what they mean to you.
Because when you decide that it is the right time. IT MIGHT BE TO LATE.

THE SOUL THAT TRUST GOD

There is never a day so dreary, but God can make it bright,
and unto the soul that trusts Him, he giveth songs in the night.
There is never a path so hidden, but God can lead the way,
If we seek for the Spirit's guidance, and patiently wait and pray.

There is never a cross so heavy, but the nail-scarred hands are there,
outstretched in tender compassion, the burden to help us bear.
There is never a heart so broken, but the loving Lord can heal.
The heart that was pierced on Calvary, doth still for His loved ones feel.

There is never a life so darkened, so hopeless and unblessed,
but may be filled with the light of God, and enter His promised rest.
There is never a sin or sorrow, there is never a care or loss,
but that we may bring to Jesus, and leave at the foot of the cross.

TAKE TIME

Take time to laugh it is the music of the soul.
Take time to think it is the source of power.
Take time to play it is the source of perpetual youth.
Take time to read it is the fountain of wisdom.
Take time to pray it is the greatest power on earth."
Take time to love and be loved it is a God-given privilege.
Take time to be friendly it is the road to happiness.
Take time to give it is too short a day to be selfish.
Take time to work, paid or voluntary it is the price of success.

THE LAMB

Mary had a little Lamb, his fleece was white as snow.

And everywhere that Mary went, The Lamb was sure to go.

He followed her to school each day, When it wasn't against the rules.

He made the children laugh & play, To have a Lamb at school.

Then the rules changed on day, Against the law it became.

To bring the Lamb of God to school, Or even speak His name.

Every day got worse and worse, And days turned into years.

Instead of hearing children laugh & play, You heard them crying tears.

What must we do to stop the crime, That's in our schools today?

Let the Lamb come back to school, And teach our kids to  pray.

THE COMFORT ZONE

I use to have a Comfort Zone where I knew I couldn't fail,
The same four walls of busy work, were really more like jail.

I longed so much to do the things, I'd never done before,
But I stayed inside my Comfort Zone, and paced the same old floor.

I said it didn't matter, that I wasn't doing much.
I said I didn't care for things like diamonds, furs and such.

I claimed to be so busy, with the things inside my Zone.
Bit deep inside I longed for something special of my own.

I couldn't let my life go by, just watching others win.
I held my breath and stepped outside to let the change begin.

I took a step and with new strength I'd never felt before,
I kissed my Comfort Zone "good-bye" and closed and locked the door.

If you are in a Comfort Zone, afraid to venture out,
Remember that all winners were at one time filled with doubt.

A step or two and words of praise, can make your dreams come true.
Greet your future with a smile, Success is there for you!

MY FATHER

When I was..
4 years old. My Daddy can do anything.
5 years old. My Daddy knows a whole lot.
6 years old .  My Dad is smarter than your Dad.
8 years old. My Dad doesn't know exactly everything.
10 yrs. old. In the olden days, when my Dad grew up, things were sure different.
12 yrs. old. Oh, well, naturally, Dad doesn't know anything about that.
He is to old to remember his childhood.
14 yrs. old. Don't pay any attention to my Dad. He is so old-fashioned
21 yrs. old. Him?? My Lord, he's hopelessly out of date
25 yrs. old. Dad knows about it, but then, he should, because hehas been around so long.
30 yrs. old. Maybe we should ask Dad what he thinks, After all, he's had a lot of experience.
35 yrs. old. I'm not doing a single thing until I talk to Dad.
40 yrs. old. I wonder how Dad would have handled it. He was so wise.
50 yrs. old . I'd give anything if Dad were here now so I could talk this over with him.
Too bad I didn't appreciate how smart he was.
I could have learned a lot from him.

THE LITTLE BOY & THE OLD MAN

Said the little boy, "Sometimes I drop my spoon."
Said the little old man, "I do that too."
The little boy whispered, "I forget things."
"I do that too," laughed the little old man.
Said the little boy, "I often cry."
The old man nodded, "So do I."
"But worst of all," said the boy,
"It seems Grown-ups don't pay attention to me."
And he felt the warmth of a wrinkled old hand.
"I know what you mean," said the little old man.

"I KNELT TO PRAY"

I knelt to pray - but not for long I had too much to do.
I must hurry off to work, for bills will soon be due.
And so I said a hurried prayer and jumped up from off my knees;
My Christian duty was now done, my soul would be at ease.
All through the day I had no time to speak a word of cheer;
No time to speak of Christ to friends, they'd laugh I feared.
That was my constant cry.
Within his hand God held a book called the Book of Life.
God looked into the Book and said " Your name I cannot find;
I once was going to write it down,
But never found the time."

WORDS OF WISDOM

A CARELESS word may kindle strife;
A TIMELY word may lessen stress;
A CRUEL word may wreck a life;
A LOVING word may heal and bless;
A BRUTAL word may smite and slay;
A GRACIOUS word may brighten the way;
A THOUGHTLESS word may rue the day;
A JOYOUS word may make the day.

I DID NOT ASK FOR FAME OR GLORY, I DID NOT ASK FOR HOUSES OR LAND
I ONLY ASKED FOR YOUR TRUE MERCY AND TO BE LED BY YOUR DEAR HAND.
WHEN I APPROACHED YOUR THRONE OF MERCY, WITH HUMBLE HEART I CAME
ASKING TO KNOW YOUR WILL DEAR LORD TO BE A SERVANT KNOWN BY THY NAME.
GOLD AND SILVER I NEED NOT LORD, WEALTH AND FAME ARE NOT FOR ME
 JUST LET ME PLACE MY HAND IN THINE, THAT I MAY KNOW THAT I AM PLEASING THEE.
WHEN YOU PRAY BE VERY CAREFUL, YOU DO NOT PRAY AMISS
SELF MUST BOW TO HIS WILL, THE LORD IS PLEASED IN THIS.
